For the first time in over 30 years, there hasn’t been a Toller in my house. It’s weird, and I don’t like it.

I took awhile deciding what I wanted to do, and spent a lot of time snuggling the cats while deciding if I could just be a cats-only household, then decided that I really miss having a dog, and specifically having a Toller. Then it’s like my Facebook feed read my mind and it was full of Toller puppies. One awesome breeder in particular was posting lots of updates about her current litter, and when I commented (mostly jokingly!) that she wasn’t helping my Puppy Fever, she said “You know… I might be able to do something about that next summer…” and that started the long chain of conversations about the potential for a new puppy for me!

So now we’re playing the waiting game… currently waiting to see if mom-to-be cooperates (she should come in heat sometime in June or July). Money is stashed away in a puppy account. Show handler has been found, because I’m an utter klutz in the show ring. LOL! Working on getting hooked up w/ a local field training group. Basically, doing all the “prep work” that I can to keep me from just sitting around going “IS HE HERE YET?? IS HE HERE YET?” for the next several months.

It’s been a rough year here at reddogs HQ… I lost Nicky to complications of a perforated stomach in May 2024, then lost Pete very unexpectedly to complications after a splenectomy in September.
